COVID-19 case slowly rising in Durham – one new death reported in Uxbridge

New cases of COVID-19 are still a little higher than we want them to be in Durham Region with 75 reported Wednesday, including 19 and both Whitby and Oshawa.

Clarington reported 11 new cases and Scugog had an abnormally high ten new cases.

Tragically, there was one more death reported in Uxbridge, the first death in a week in Durham and number 448 since the pandemic began two years ago.

There are 31 people in hospital in Durham with the virus and three in intensive care. Another 17 hospital patients are “under investigation” for having the virus.

The active case count is slowly creeping back up. It is now 387, up from 377 the day before.

Outbreaks at retirement and long-term care homes is up to five, with 15 people affected. Nine of those are residents of Village of Taunton Mills in Whitby.
