The COVID-19 virus reminded us yesterday it’s not done with us yet, with new cases spiking from 87 to 103 Wednesday, active cases (after a week of declining numbers) rising from 571 to 611 and institutional outbreaks creeping up from 11 to 13, with 29 people now affected.

The biggest outbreaks are at Abbeylawn Retirement Home (9) and at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville, which has seven people isolating at four different outbreaks.

Last available figures from Lakeridge Health show 57 people in hospital with six in ICU.

Clarington had the highest number of new cases with 25, followed by Oshawa with 20.
