A mixed bag of messages from this week’s COVID-19 numbers, with three of six categories up slightly from the previous reporting period and two down, with the number of outbreaks at hospitals, long term care homes and retirement centres remaining constant at five, with none at local hospitals.

The most important statistic was down to zero a week after Durham Region reported its first death from the virus in several months.

The per cent positivity rate also dropped, from 12.6 per cent to 11 per cent, while the weekly incidence rate (per 100,000 population) went up to nine from 8.3.

New cases were also up, with 66 reported for the September 10-16 period; up five from the 61 declared in the previous week.
