Fifty new COVID-19 cases and an active case count that is down to 352 are both good signs for the future as we try to climb our way out of a pandemic that turns two years old in about ten days.

Oshawa only reported five new cases, the lowest number since … the day before when they reported three. Ajax (6) and Clarington (2) also reported single digit new cases while Brock reported a zero 24-hour period for the third straight day and fourth time this week.

Institutional outbreaks were up one to five but just eight people in total have tested positive in our retirement and long-term care homes.

Whitby (15) and Pickering (13) reported the highest number of new cases while Scugog had a small spike with eight new cases.

The only possible worry on the horizon are stories out of New York state that an Omicron sub-variant is starting to make itself known.
