COVID cases in Durham continue to fall – one more death reported in Pickering

COVID-19 case numbers continue to fall in Durham Region, with just 70 and 75 new cases reported over the weekend, down from 195 only last Wednesday. The active case count has also dropped to 1,252 cases, almost 200 fewer cases since Wednesday.

Hospital numbers are down as well, with 101 patients (from 120 Wednesday), with seven in ICU.

There was one more death from Saturday, bringing the total number of deaths in the region since the pandemic began to 429.

There are no school outbreaks or any outbreaks in workplaces and outbreaks at retirement residences and long-term care homes has dropped from 26 on Thursday to just 19 as of Sunday, with 47 people affected – down from 78.

The biggest outbreak is at Bon Aire in Cannington, with nine people affected.
