COVID cases still showing signs of improvement; Whitby still local hot spot

New COVID-19 cases dropped to just 30 on Sunday after Friday and Saturday numbers of 74 and 61, with one new death reported Friday in Ajax.

Whitby remains the regional hot spot, with 25, 23 and 6 new cases reported over the three-day reporting period. The next highest of Friday and Saturday were less than half Whitby’s total while three communities reported six new cases on Sunday.

There are currently 21 people in hospital after contracting the virus, with three in ICU.

There are five outbreaks in long-term care and retirement homes, with 19 people affected.
