After a small blip last week when four of the six key COVID-19 indicators rose slightly, the numbers are back down for the May 14-20 period, with just one number – the per cent positivity rate – higher than the previous week.

Hospital cases are down to six from seven, with just one patient in ICU (versus two the previous week) and the important new case number is down from 61 to 51. The even more important number of deaths remained at zero.

Outbreaks at long-term care homes, hospitals and retirement centres are down to six, with none at local hospitals, and the weekly incidence rate (per 100,000 people) is down to 7.0 from 8.3. The only aberration is the per cent positivity rate, which climbed to 9.4 per cent from 8.8 per cent.

The World Health Organization declared COVID-19 over as a global health emergency May 5.
