COVID numbers still in freefall – Brock Township enjoys perfect weekend

COVID-19 cases continue to fall in Durham Region after a weekend that averaged just 54 new cases per day while the active case count took a significant drop from 454 on Thursday to only 373 as of Sunday.

There were no deaths reported on the weekend and institutional outbreaks remain at four with just seven people affected. An outbreak at Abbeylawn Manor Retirement Home in Pickering that started February 9 and reached 25 residents and staff is now down to just four people.

Oshawa reported the most cases Friday with 15, Ajax reported the highest on Saturday with 19 and Whitby had the highest number of new cases Sunday with 11. Brock Township, after reporting one new case Friday was perfect on the weekend and has just three active cases on the books.

Hospitalization numbers have not been made public since last Wednesday.
