COVID on the uptick in Durham – half of all new cases from Clarington

COVID-19 cases are still on the rise in Durham Region and for the second time this week Clarington has been responsible for half or more of the new cases.

There were 22 new cases in Durham yesterday, with Clarington accounting for eleven. There have been 38 new cases of the virus in Clarington this week, easily the highest number among Durham’s communities.

The number of active cases is also on an upward swing and now stands at 109. There are no residents in hospital.

Pickering and Oshawa, as well as Uxbridge, Scugog and Brock, reported zero new cases Tuesday. Pickering has reported just four cases all week while Oshawa has reported 13.

There are still two children home from school or day care self-isolating and one workplace outbreak remains. Long-term care homes in the region are virus-free.

The fully vaccinated rate for those who are 12 and over is now 83.6 per cent.
