An Oshawa man faces several charges after he allegedly left a victim in critical condition following a fight at a local bar.

The two men were both hanging out at the Canadian Brewhouse at 2710 Simcoe St. in North Oshawa, according to Durham Regional Police. The pair began to argue verbally when, with an object hidden in his hand, the suspect allegedly hit the other man in the face with it.

The blow knocked the victim to the ground. He had to be rushed to a Toronto trauma centre for treatment. He remains there in critical condition but has stabilized.

Police soon arrived and arrested Tyler Wood for aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and breaching release conditions. He remains in custody until a bail hearing.
