Published August 16, 2022 at 9:24 am
Culture Days, a national celebration of arts and culture held in late September each year, will be held in Oshawa September 24 and local organizers are looking for street artists to help them celebrate.
An event that honours Canada’s vibrant culture (all programs and activities are free), Culture Days focuses this year on celebration, connection, participation, inclusivity, creativity, self-expression, collaboration and collective care, with the public invited to public to get hands-on and behind-the-scenes to highlight the importance of arts and culture in our communities.
The big event in Oshawa this year will be a live street art showcase and artists are invited to submit proposals to participate. The deadline for interested parties is August 22.
The family-friendly live street art painting event will be at Donevan Recreation Complex, 171 Harmony Road South, from noon to four p.m. In addition to the live street painting, art activities will be available on site for all ages from one p.m. to four p.m.
The City of Oshawa will pay an artist fee of $400 and will provide all required supplies. Selected artists will be sent a contract and asked to provide their name and address for payment. Travel will not be provided.
Artists must submit:
- Current CV (maximum 3 pages)
- Artist statement (250 words)
- Maximum of five JPEG images of past work, included in your PDF document, that best illustrate your art practice. Include the title of the work, medium, approximate dimensions, location and date of installation
- A statement about how this event connects to your artistic practice. Include information on safety measures that you will follow while live painting in front of an audience, and details on any specific artist materials you will require (maximum 250 words).
