COVID-19 numbers remained consistent from the day before with 597 new cases – two more than yesterday – with the active cases count rising just 84 to 6,841. There are no new deaths, and the hospitalization numbers are estimated to be about 70.

The seven-day average for new cases stands at 716, representing 5,015 new cases in that span, which forms the bulk of the active cases on the books in the region.

Oshawa reported 146 new cases yesterday, while Pickering (129), Ajax (128) and Whitby (102) also reported more than 100 new cases.

There are 36 outbreaks at long-term care homes, retirement residences and hospitals with 65 residents and staff self-isolating. The latter number does not count staff and out-of-region hospital patients involved in 11 of those outbreaks.

Child care centre outbreaks in Durham have dropped to eight and there are nine workplace outbreaks.
