Darryl Sittler appearance highlights Clarington’s Celebration of Sport this weekend

Clarington is celebrating sport this weekend with free skating and swimming, sports demonstrations and activities and a Clarington Sports Hall of Fame event Friday evening featuring Toronto Maple Leaf legend Darryl Sittler.
The free skating schedule starts at 6:30 p.m. tonight with sessions Friday and Saturday at South Courtice Arena and Saturday and Sunday at Garnett Rickard Recreation Complex in Bowmanville. Free public swimming is offered Friday through Sunday at the Courtice Community Complex and at the Diane Hamre Recreation Complex in Newcastle and on Sunday at the Alan Strike Aquatic and Squash Centre in Bowmanville.
Residents can also try out the Fitness Training Centre (18+) at the Courtice Community Complex.
There will be food trucks and entertainment at various venues around Clarington with the highlight of the weekend tonight’s alumni showcase, a ticketed event at Garnet Rickard with Sittler as the special guest and keynote speaker.
Tickets for the family-friendly Sports Hall of Fame Alumni event are $25 and come with food, live music, a cash bar and plenty of giveaways.
