The daVinci school community in Ajax celebrated its ten-year anniversary recently, opening it doors to the community and to past students, staff and teachers.

This was the first time since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic that the school was able to host community members for a celebration, with former students, teachers and staff reconnecting while participating in activities such as: activities like:

  • ‘DaVinci Passport’ tour of the school and submission for prizes,
  • Selfie photo opportunity with a daVinci (Mona Lisa theme),
  • “Who’s that Dragon” board with photos of staff when they were 10 years old,
  • A large birthday card for all visitors to sign, and
  • 10th anniversary bingo game

Current students were surprised by the number of community members and past alumni who attended to take part in the celebration. Student Kennedy-Grace who took part in the festivities said, “whether it’s past students, current students, old staff members, or current staff members, we will always be together as a big family.”

Rhiyah really liked the birthday celebration. “Something I liked about the party is everyone was really welcoming to families, and people who came here were very excited to come. One of my favourite things at the party was signing the birthday card and the passports.”

Attending this year’s event was the original administrative team of Principal Andrea Della Torre and Vice Principal John McLeod who opened the school doors back in September 2012 and welcomed the first students.

This year’s graduates hold the unique distinction of being the first graduates to begin daVinci Public School in Junior Kindergarten and attend all grade levels at the school.
