Density concerns for 10-storey development proposal in Oshawa

Too much density for a busy area? Staff at the City of Oshawa will consider those public comments when they report back to committee with a report on an application to build a 10-storey, 74-unit apartment on Taunton Road, just west of Townline.
KLM Planning was at Economic and Development Services Committee Monday to deliver a revised application for the high-rise at 1251 Taunton Rd. E, which is east of the booming retail centres at Harmony Road and Taunton, immediately east of a seniors’ centre and a movie theatre, and south of sprawling new homes rapidly spreading north to Oshawa’s urban boundaries.
There were two letters presented at the committee meeting, with both in opposition to the “high density” in what is already an “extremely busy” area.
Parking at the building will be provided through a one-level underground parking lot.
City staff will review the proposal and report back to the Economic and Development Services Committee.
