Detached home in Oshawa makes Durham most-affordable list dominated by condos

Condos dominated the list of most affordable homes sold in Durham Region last month – as usual – but a townhome and even a detached house made the list as well, with all five selling for under $500,000.
At #1 is a one-bedroom condo in a new high-rise in Oshawa’s booming north end university district, with a 20th-floor apartment at 2550 Simcoe Street selling October 28 for $423,500.
The condo unit, which boasts maintenance fees of just $356 per month, sold for $12,000 under asking.
In second spot is a ground-floor unit in Whitby’s prestigious Yacht Club complex at 340 Watson Street, with the one-bedroom apartment on the waterfront changing hands for $475,000.
At #3 is a detached home in a neighbourhood near Simcoe Street and Highway 401 in Oshawa, with the two-bedroom home at 140 Mill Street, which boasts a large lot and extra-large backyard with gazebo, fire pit and garden shed outside and new flooring and a large eat-in kitchen inside, selling for $488,888.
Number four on the list is a three-bedroom, two bath townhouse at 101 Dovedale Drive in Whitby, which sold on October 24 for $495,000.
The selling prices was $96,000 over asking.
At #5 is a condo near Ajax’s waterfront at 25 Cumberland Lane, with the third-floor, one-bedroom unit near the Ajax Waterfront Park selling for $498,000.
