Dog dead, one man in hospital after gunfire in Whitby Thursday morning

A dog is dead and man is in hospital with gunshot wounds after shots were fired in Whitby Thursday morning.

Police were called to Mary Street and Pine Street at 7:20 a.m. Thursday for sounds of gunshots. Officers arrived on scene and located a dog that had been shot and tsook one man into custody. The dog was transported to an emergency veterinary clinic, where he died from his injuries.

Police later learned a man showed up at a Toronto hospital with gunshot wounds. He was transferred to a trauma centre with non-life-threatening injuries. Police are still determing if there was a connection between the dog and man ewho was shot.
