Double murder victims identified as ex-boyfriend charged near Oshawa

A mother and a grandmother have been identified as the victims in a Courtice homicide on Tuesday (Oct. 1).

The accused, an ex-boyfriend and father of the mother’s child who was on the scene, has also been identified.

Durham Regional Police found Katrina Zwolinski, 30, and Laurie Crew, 67, both of Courtice, dead after a well-being check at 1:10 p.m. at a Moulton Court address.

Police found the two with “obvious signs of trauma.”

The male arrested on-scene has been identified as Michael Belhu, 33, of no fixed address. He is Zwolinski’s ex-boyfriend and the father of her child who was also on the scene.

The child has been identified as Zwolinski’s son and Crew’s grandson. The child was not injured.

Belhu is facing two counts of second-degree murder.

Belhu was held for a bail hearing.

“Our thoughts are with the families this tragedy impacted,” said Durham Regional Police.
