A driver was arrested in Oshawa during a traffic stop when police discovered his insurance card was a fake.
Officers pulled the man over for speeding shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 7 near King St. and Thornton Rd. Durham Regional Police say the driver hit speeds of 80 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.
When the officer reviewed the driver’s documents he determined the insurance slip was a fake. He also noted the car’s registration had been updated that very day, meaning the driver had updated his information with the fake card.
A man from Hillburgh, 31, is charged with multiple offences including speeding, making a false statement, driving without insurance and more. Hillsburgh is a small community about an hour and a half west of Oshawa
The man will appear in the Oshawa courthouse at a later date.
