Driver dies after vehicle rolls over on Highway 412 in Whitby

A woman has died after her vehicle veered from its lane and rolled over on Highway 412 in Whitby yesterday.

OPP responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 412 southbound, just north of Taunton Road, shortly after 8 a.m.

Police say a sedan was travelling southbound when it rolled into the grassy median, crossing into the northbound lanes.

A 21-year-old woman from Whitby, who was the only person in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Highway 412 was closed in both directions near Taunton Road for approximately five hours for investigations. It has since reopened to motorists.

The cause of the crash is still being determined.

OPP reported a similar crash hours later in Mississauga, where the driver also died.
