Driver unconscious and air lifted to hospital after crashing vehicle into pole in Bowmanville

A 31-year-old woman is fighting for her life in hospital after her vehicle was discovered in a ditch in Bowmanville where it had hit a hydro pole.

On Saturday (Aug. 5) shortly before 12:30 p.m., Durham police responded to a collision involving a single motor vehicle in the area of Baseline Rd. E. between Bennett Rd. and Lambs Rd.

Police say they located a black Jeep in a ditch and found an unconscious driver who was airlifted by Ornge ambulance to a Toronto-area trauma centre, where she is currently in critical condition.

The roads where the collision occurred were closed off for several hours while police investigated.
