An Ajax man faces charges after a raid up in Thunder Bay found nearly 400 grams of cocaine and tens of thousands in cash.

The OPP raided a home on Sleeping Giant Parkway on Sept. 25. The street runs along the shore of Lake Superior. It’s home to several apartment buildings and hotels.

The Provincial Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team, an Ontario-wide program of multiple services led the raid. Inside the home, police say they found 380 grams of what they believe to be cocaine, $20,000 in cash and fake ID.

Shaquille Evelyn, 32 of Ajax, is charged with

  • possession of cocaine for trafficking
  • possession of proceeds of crime
  • possession of an identity document

Evelyn has been remanded to police custody and will appear in court on Oct. 4.

“The OPP would like to thank the Thunder Bay Police Service, Nishnawbe Aski Police Service and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for their support of the Provincial Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team program,” police said.
