Dump truck driver catches stunt driving charges in Clarington

A dump truck driver faces multiple driving charges after he was stopped for speeding through the hamlet of Solina in Clarington.

The Durham Regional Police Traffic Services Branch has received several reports from concerned community members of dump trucks speeding through the area. As a result they set up proactive patrols around the hamlet and issued multiple offense notices.

Police announced a dump truck had been clocked at 91 km/h in a 50 km/h zone around 7 p.m. February 14 via twitter. The driver, 24, was charged with stunt driving, careless driving, speeding and failure to pull to the right for an emergency vehicle.

The dump truck was impounded for 14 days and the driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days.

Durham Police stressed the need to slow down and that commercial drivers are not exempt.
