A Durham-based graffiti artist recently proposed this weekend. However, when it came to popping the question, this street art specialist did so in a fashion only he could achieve.
Chad Tyson, owner of The Paint Factory, proposed to his fiance Kassandra Swimminer by orchestrating a massive mural in the decommissioned Goodyear plant in Bowmanville.
The plant closed in 2016, and while regional powers are deciding what to do with the space, artists like Tyson are taking full advantage of it. According to multiple sources, Tyson rapidly got permission from the current landowners to design his masterwork.
The news of the engagement broke last week when the official Paint Factory YouTube channel posted a video that showed Tyson designing the mural. Afterward, an unsuspecting Swimminer walked into the abandoned factory to see candles, rose petals and a massive mural that reads the words ‘Will you marry me?’
For those wondering how the proceedings went, The Paint Factory’s official caption for the video states that:
“Everything went perfectly as planned — and lucky for Chad — She said YES!”
