Durham citizens from Oshawa to Pickering show their support for Ukraine and its people

As global condemnation rains down upon Russian President Vladimir Putin and his government for for the invasion of Ukraine, words of support for the Ukrainian people are also being heard from coast to coast and right here in Durham Region as well.
Mayors of several Durham municipalities have publically offered their support to the people of Ukraine on behalf of their respective councils and the people they represent. Vigils, such as the one pictured above from St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Oshawa, are being held around the region.
And ordinary folks – from all political stripes, it seems – are coming together to post words of support, with messages such as ‘Pray for Ukraine’ and ‘I stand with Ukraine’ in their hopes this madness will end.

I am at a loss for words at this tragic and senseless time. My thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Ukraine and the people in our communities who have loved ones there. We stand with you all. @ Oshawa, Ontario https://t.co/CriVATnMV5
