Durham District School Board finds new Superintendent for Oshawa schools

A new Superintendent is in town at the Durham District School Board.

Kandis Thompson, who held the role of Acting Superintendent of Equitable Education and System Lead of K-12 Curriculum and eLearning, gets the permanent role as Superintendent of Equitable Education, filling the vacancy left by Jack Nigro who has moved to the Toronto District School Board as an Executive Superintendent.

Thompson’s area of responsibility will be Eastdale CVI, GL Roberts CVI and RS McLaughlin CVI Family of Schools in Oshawa.

Thompson has more than 25 years of experience as an educator, including as a teacher and administrator across many Durham schools and programs. An advocate for equity in education, she has collaborated in the development of the DDSB Equity Exchange Program and has helped develop tools, resources and initiatives that support student success and well-being.

Thompson starts her new role on Monday, November 14.
