Durham Farm Tour going virtual once again at Uxbridge potato farm
Published September 10, 2021 at 2:20 pm
For nearly 20 years Durham’s farmers have opened their barns and pastures to city folk from around the region so they can better understand rural and farm life.
The sights and smells – oh, those smells – of the Durham Agricultural Advisory Committee-hosted event was always a big hit each year, but the Pandemic and COVID-19 put an end to in-person tours last year and the 2021 version will be virtual once again.
All the sights, as it were, without the smells.
This year’s tour on September 28 will provide a unique insight into the full growing season of family-run potato farm Smalley’s Produce in Uxbridge. From the cut, or planting, to growing the crop, harvesting, storing and distributing the potatoes, this year’s event will showcase the full range of activities related to growing potatoes on a family farm in Durham.
