Durham Police arrested a woman in a stolen vehicle in Bowmanville on Thursday morning.

Police responded to reports of a woman opening car doors in the Scugog Street and Wellington Street area around nine a.m. just before the woman left the neighbourhood in a blue Kia.

An officer was able to catch up to the suspect but she refused to co-operate and sped off down Wellington Street until she reached the street’s dead end. Police pulled in behind, boxing her in.

The suspect, a 30 year-old Whitby woman, was arrested and after police discovered the car was stolen, she was charged with auto theft, possession of stolen property as well as failure to stop, and driving without a licence.
