Officers and elves will join forces next week to kick-off the 33rd Annual Durham Regional Police Services Food and Toy Drive.

Interim Chief Todd Rollauer, Constable Darryl Rice, who organizes the drive, and Santa himself will partner to launch the charitable season  on November 17 at the Regional Headquarters on Garden Street and Rossland Road in Whitby.

This marks the latest in Durham’s long tradition of first-responder organized Christmas drives which provides families in need with meals on their tables, and toys under the tree every year.

Given the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, DRPS is challenging the Region to step up and make this year’s event the biggest yet, saving Christmas for more kids in their communities than ever before.

Businesses, residents and organizations can donate food and toys throughout November and December to any DRPS division headquarters, any Firehall in Ajax, Whitby or Oshawa, the Clarington fire headquarters or Durham Regional Headquarters.

Anyone who wishes to make a large donation is encouraged to contact Cst. Darryl Rice, at [email protected].
