The Region is performing it’s bi-yearly nuclear alert system test on October 18-19.

The system is designed to warn residents of any potential nuclear emergencies.

On October 18 landline phones within 10 kilometres of either power plant will receive a robocall to test phone warning systems. The following day, outdoor sirens will blare their warning call for one minute. They are all stationed within three kilometres of the plants.

The next test is scheduled for the spring.
