Winter is coming.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for the Durham Region as a swath of snow is expected to pass through parts of southern Ontario on Thursday (Dec. 23).

According to Environment Canada, the system will move through the region from west to east beginning Thursday evening and continuing overnight.

Total snowfall accumulations of 2 to 5 cm can be expected by the time the snow tapers off, the weather agency said in the advisory.

Quickly accumulating snow this evening could have an impact on travel throughout the region.
