Durham reporting 33 new COVID-19 cases – one-third from Oshawa

Durham Region reported 33 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday as the fourth wave of the virus continues to make its presence felt in the region.

Eleven of the new cases are from Oshawa, though Clarington, which reported just one new case yesterday, has four of its residents in hospital and one in ICU. In total there are ten Durham residents in hospital and three in intensive care.

There are 215 active cases in Durham and 461 total cases have now been linked to the Delta variant. It is unclear how many of the new cases are linked to unvaccinated people as Durham’s Health Department does not release that information.
