Durham reports 36 new COVID-19 cases; 11 from Pickering

Durham Region reported 36 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, up from Tuesday’s 23 and up slightly from the seven-day average of 30.3.

Pickering reported the highest number of new cases with 11, followed by Ajax and Whitby with seven each. Brock recorded a positive case of the virus for the first time in nearly two weeks while Scugog and Uxbridge recorded zero new cases.

There are 182 active cases of the virus in Durham, with three people in hospital and two in intensive case.

There are ten outbreaks in schools and day cares around the region, including Msgr Leo Cleary CS in Courtice and St. Elizabeth Seaton CS in Pickering where three students from each school are home self-isolating; and West Lynde PS in Whitby where four children are home isolating.

The good news is 78.4 per cent of the 12-plus population of the region have been double vaccinated and more than half a million Durham Residents have now taken both jobs.
