The Durham District School Board has a new Chair, with Whitby Trustee Tracy Brown selected to the post November 18.
First elected to the school board in 2022, Brown, a passionate advocate for inclusive education and student success, said she is “committed” to fostering respect and promoting collaboration in public education.
“It is an exciting time for the Durham District School Board, and I am honoured to take on the role of Chair for 2024-25, prioritizing open dialogue and shared problem-solving to achieve the best student outcomes.”
Brown replaces outgoing Chair Christine Thatcher, also a Whitby trustee.
Oshawa Trustee Deb Oldfield was named Vice Chair of the school board and Chair of the Standing Committee.
