Social worker at Oshawa school and others in Durham charged with sexual assault of student

A social worker who worked at schools across Durham Region has been charged with sexually assaulting a student.

A boy came forward to Durham Regional Police to allege his social worker had sexually assaulted him throughout June and July. According to the boy, the social worker would pick the boy up in his personal car for their sessions.

During these sessions, police allege the social worker inappropriately touched the student.

Investigators arrested Shahzad Khan, 43 of Klienburg, on three counts each of sexual assault and sexual exploitation. He has been released from custody with conditions.  Khan worked with the Durham District School Board at the Durham Alternative Secondary School in Oshawa.

Investigators are trying to learn if there are additional victims.
