An early morning fishing experience on Duffins Creek turned out to be too early for an occupant of a nearby tent, with the resulting altercation leading to assault charges after two anglers were threatened with a knife and one victim pushed into the creek.

Durham Police say the two men were fishing in Duffins Creek near Church Street and Hwy 401 on the Ajax-Pickering border early Sunday when a man living in a tent nearby approached them while brandishing a knife and making threats.  The suspect then pushed one of the anglers into the water.

The victims did not sustain any physical injuries and attended West Division to report the incident.

Isaiah Little, 26, of Ajax is charged with assault, assault with a weapon, and uttering threats. He was held for a bail hearing.
