Test smoke alarms in Mississauga and across Ontario

Police are treating a suspicious early morning tow-truck fire in Oshawa as arson.

Central East Division officers responded to a vehicle fire on Norwill Crescent in north Oshawa Thursday morning just after 4 a.m. and arrived to find a White GMC tow-truck fully engulfed in flames.

Oshawa Fire Services were able to extinguish the blaze and there were no reported injuries.

There has been a rash of tow truck fires in Durham Region and across the GTA this year as police deal with turf wars in the industry. Investigators have given no indication that Thursday’s truck fire was connected in any way but are asking for any witnesses or homeowners in the area with video surveillance to come forward.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call D/Cst. Trafford of the Central East Division Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2739.
