After a blip with 18 new COVID-19 cases reported in Durham Region Friday, the numbers settled down to six and four on the weekend with the even better news that hospitals in Durham are now COVID-free.
Fully half the cases reported Friday came from Ajax, while the highest number of cases from a single municipality on Saturday and Sunday was two. There are 82 active cases of the virus in the region.
In other good news, all cases involving residents in long-term care homes have been resolved and there are just three students at Durham schools – one at Da Vinci Public School in Ajax and two at Ormiston Public School in Whitby – who are at home self-isolating.
The vaccination rate for Durham’s 12-plus population has now reached 82.4 per cent fully vaccinated, which is about the provincial average.
