Hail, lightning and rain part of winter thunderstorm in Mississauga.

Thunderstorms are expected to strike Oshawa tomorrow prompting concerns about possible tornado activity.

According to Environment Canada, April 9 will see a 70 per cent chance of showers during the day. Cloud coverage will make its way into Durham Region in the morning, and turn to storms by the afternoon.

The day will also be quite warm with temperatures reaching up to 18 degrees. However, by evening those numbers will fall back to 6 degrees.

While Environment Canada doesn’t mention a tornado concern, Instant Weather Ontario does. “We’re watching a severe thunderstorm and potential tornado risk on Tuesday, April 9th, 2024 across isolated parts of our region,” they wrote, “Some models suggesting the strongest storms will be up near Deep River but other runs are suggesting Orangeville to Oshawa areas.”

Deep River is a small community up north of Ottawa on the Ontario-Quebec border.
