Last year’s Picov Derby winner and the reigning 3 year-old filly of the year at Ajax Downs is making some noise in the Lone Star state this week, winning a challenge race in Texas Tuesday to qualify for a $1000,000 Grade 1 stakes race next month.
Eye Live for Candy, brought down to Lone Star Park in the Dallas suburbs by last year’s top quarter horse owner in Ajax, Milena Kwiecien of Burlington, and conditioned by four-time Trainer of the Year Jason Pascoe of Pontypool, took out some top opposition in her victory in the Q-Racing Video Distaff Challenge.
The 11-race card handled $2.23 million in wagers.
The win sets up the filly for the $100,000 Q-Racing Video Distaff Championships October 21.
“The filly is a bear,” enthused horse racing writer and analyst Jennifer Morrison. “Ajax horses can compete anywhere!”
