Fall in love with food and drink from Oshawa to Uxbridge with the Great Taste of Ontario program

The Great Taste of Ontario is a collection of digital passports and stories to help you fall in love with the food and drink of Ontario – and of Durham Region – again, and again.

Each season, you can download one of 40 passports to help guide your planning and inspire you to explore. Then, hit the open road to visit the growers and makers who make Ontario so special. Each time you check-in along the way, you’ll be one step closer to redeeming some Ontario-made prizes – all while supporting communities across Ontario too.

(For every ten check-ins you collect, you can redeem one $25 Feast On Gift Voucher, which opens the door to more than 150 local-focused restaurants across Ontario.)

There are stories to inspire from every region in the province, including Durham. From Oshawa we have Vibes and Great Finds in SOJO (by Will McGuirk) – https://ontarioculinary.com/gto-post/vibes-and-great-finds-in-oshawas-sojo-neighbourhood/; there is Your Guide to North Durham cherries (Chris Mitchell) https://ontarioculinary.com/gto-post/your-guide-to-north-durham-cideries/; and Bicycle-friendly Second Wedge Brewery (Katherine Ryalen) https://ontarioculinary.com/gto-post/this-uxbridge-brewery-is-ontarios-best-bicycle-friendly-business/.

(*NOTE: Second Wedge was devastated when the F2 tornado touched down in Uxbridge last month and is currently closed while they re-build. Their beer is being produced off-site for now but is still available and they could use all the help they could get, so support them if you can.)

The Great Taste of Ontario is a tourism recovery program involving more than 80 partners, including Durham Tourism. The program’s intent is to boost tourism visits and regional economies post-pandemic, while also working with local charities such as Second Harvest and Foodshare, that are addressing food security issues in Ontario.
