Family Fun Day highlights Sunday at Ajax Downs

One of the most popular days on the Ajax Downs’ Quarter Horse racing calendar comes up this Sunday with Family Fun Day, beginning at 10 a.m. Accompanying the exciting day is a card of Quarter Horse racing beginning at 12:55 p.m.
Family Fun Day is an important event for the community as the afternoon proceeds go to the Ajax-Pickering Hospital Foundation. The first 1,000 kids at the track receive a loot bag for a minimum donation, kids can race over the Ajax Downs track from the gate, enjoy live entertainment and activities, and see a variety of animals brought in by Zoo to You.
There is also a $5 barbecue special for the afternoon in which all proceeds go to the Ajax Pickering Hospital.
Snow Moose
On the track, fans will get a chance to see the best 3-year-old in Canada right now, Snow Moose, the big, grey Ontario bred who has won four straight races this season including the Ontario Bred Derby and Open Derby. Snow Moose and jockey Brian Bell compete in race 3, an allowance race at 350-yards that will serve as a prep race for the upcoming $50,000 Norman Picov Derby on September 13. Among his main rivals will be Sour Candy, second to Snow Moose twice this year, who was recently purchased by Craig Spada and Rick Crispi.
