The world’s fastest-growing cookie franchise is coming to Durham Region, with Crumbl holding its grand opening In Ajax Friday morning.

Crumbl’s origin begins with two “crazy cousins” and a quest to bake the perfect chocolate chip cookie, with co-founders Jason McGowan and Sawyer Hemsley opening their first store in Logan, Utah in 2017.

Today there are more than 1,000 locations world-wide, including stores in Mississauga (Rodeo Drive, Dundas Street), Niagara Falls (Drummond Drive) and Toronto (Front Street), with the Ajax location at the Rio Can Annex (just behind the Durham Centre shopping plaza at Harwood Avenue and Kingston Road) set to open its doors at 10 a.m. Friday.

The selection has grown from that ‘perfected’ chocolate chip cookie as well, with delicious options like Oatmeal Skillet Cookie, Pink Velvet Cookie, Mint Mallow Sandwich, Lemon Cheesecake, Churro, Mint Chocolate Chip, Confetti and Classic Peanut Butter.

All served in a unique pink box that has already achieved iconic status.

Crumbl stores now have a weekly rotating menu and offer catering and delivery. The stores are also structured as open concept kitchens, giving customers a first-hand experience watching as their cookies are mixed, balled and baked.

The Ajax bakery will be the company’s first location in Durham.
