The fiery crash on Highway 401 in Pickering Tuesday night that left two truck drivers dead and closed the highway indefinitely has caused some chaos on local roads as well and has led to 66 delays for school bus routes from Pickering to Oshawa.

All routes in the area are running but the delays run from 10 to 45 minutes each.

There are 16 routes cancelled in Clarington, including four routes each serving Newcastle Public School and St. Francis of Assisi. It is unclear if the cancellations are related to the highway being closed from Hwy 412 and Liverpool Road, but both schools are near Hwy 401.

Other schools with route closures today (June 21) are THe Pines, Clarke High School, Duke of Cambridge and Bowmanville High School and St. Joseph.
