Feed the Need Durham

It’s the last week of Hunger Action Month, with the City of Oshawa and the other Durham Region municipalities collecting donations for Feed the Need Durham.

The cities of Oshawa and Pickering, the towns of Ajax and Whitby, the municipality of Clarington and the northern townships of Scugog, Uxbridge and Brock have once again partnered with Region of Durham to help raise awareness, food donations and funds to fight hunger in the community.

With hunger an important issue that affects individuals, seniors and families throughout the region communities are taking action to address the need, with rising prices and increasing populations driving more people to food banks than ever before.

There will be additional drop-off locations until Friday September 27 throughout the region to make it easier for residents, businesses and community groups to donate non-perishable food items. To find a drop-off location near you, visit:

All donations will be used by Feed the Need in Durham and area food banks to support local families in need.

You can also donate online and for every $1 donated, Feed the Need in Durham can collect, store, and distribute two meals and other needed products to reach those in need.

Feed the Need in Durham, which distributes food to local food banks and hunger relief programs, has seen the number of people accessing their services get higher and higher over the last few years, reaching an average of 22,000 visits per month.
