A massive fire has destroyed a Durham Region Transit bus maintenance facility in Oshawa.

Fire crews were called to the facility, called the Raleigh garage, at 710 Raleigh Ave., Farewell Street and Raleigh Avenue, just south of Highway 401 early this morning (Aug. 16), Oshawa Fire Services said in a tweet.

The call came in around 2:30 a.m., according to reports

The three-alarm fire has reportedly destroyed or damaged more than 20 buses inside the facility. Photos from the scene show the building roof collapsed and fire crews dousing the flames.

There were reports of a loud boom before the fire broke out.

No injuries have been reported.

Several buses have been cancelled. Durham Region Transit reported 10 bus route cancellations this morning.

Farewell Street is closed south of Bloor Street to Wentworth Street. Oshawa Fire Services asks people to avoid the area.

There is no word yet on the cause of the fire.
