Fire and Emergency Services in Durham Region and Kawartha Lakes have partnered once again with Enbridge Gas and local radio stations to promote home safety during the holidays.

Radio advertisements featuring representatives from Enbridge Gas will promote the safety campaign and provide carbon monoxide safety tips on local stations this week and the team of public educators and other fire personnel from all eight municipal fire services in Durham and in Kawartha Lakes will continue to share safety tips that will air on participating stations until December 23.

The radio ads will promote fire safety messages during the time of year when residents need to be extra vigilant when it comes to fire safety.

“The 12 Days of Holiday Safety campaign provides important safety messages during a critical time of year,” said Pickering Fire Chief Steve Boyd. “We wish the residents of Pickering a safe and happy holiday season.”

Boyd’s message was echoed by other fire chiefs from around Durham, including Whitby Fire Chief Michael Hickey, who thanked Enbridge for sponsoring the initiative.

“Safety is always top priority at Enbridge Gas and we are proud to continue to support important initiatives like the 12 Days of Holiday Safety,” said Enbridge Gas Director Neil MacNeil. “We’d like to extend our sincere appreciation to our community partners … for all that they do to keep our communities safe throughout the year.”
