The Oshawa Firefit Regional Championships return to Oshawa this weekend with events for the whole family.
FireFit event in Oshawa has been postponed for the last two years due to lockdown restrictions.
The two-day competition brings firefighters from Canada and the United States. FireFit is a competition based on fire fighting tasks, such as climbing a ladder or carrying heavy equipment, commonly performed in emergency situations. Participants can compete with a relay team, a two-person relay, or as an individual.
But there is also a Kids Firefit zone and a Firefit Kids Course for children to compete and a fun race against family and friends.
There will be a fire truck display and an interactive fire trailer where kids can learn about fire safety.
This weekend: Firefighters from across Canada the USA will be competing at the Oshawa Firefit Regional Championships at the Delpark Homes Centre.

RS Rescue sponsors an Auto-Extrication Zone where, for a small donation, people try out real extrication tools on real cars.
Firefighters cut open a vehicle in an auto extrication demonstration. There will be vendors and giveaways. There is also a splash pad on the Delpark Homes Centre site, right next to the competition area.
The weekend event is at DelPark Homes Centre at 1661 Harmony Rd N. in Oshawa, on Aug. 13 and 14.
The event is free but donations will be accepted for Durham Region charities. For more information visit the FireFit website.
