Five day road closure in Ajax due to pending Metrolinx project

A five-day road closure in Ajax may impact drivers this week as installations for new electrical and telecommunications infrastructure are expected in the area.

The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of a road closure on the southbound area of Salem Road (Regional Road 41) in the Town of Ajax.

The roads were officially blocked off on Thursday (Apr. 13) and will remain closed until Monday (Apr. 17)

Only southbound lanes from Highway 401 to Achilles Road, in Ajax will be affected.

Access to eastbound and westbound Highway 401 will not be impacted.

The infrastructure installation is for a pending Metrolinx project.

“It may be disruptive and we will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible,” city officials say.

Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.
