Whitby’s annual ghost walks are returning to haunt the town just in time for Halloween.

“Downtown Whitby has an interesting history but also has vivid ghost stories,” the town described, “Join us as we walk through Whitby and listen to some spine-tingling, spooky stories from your guide and as well as re-enactments live in person by Beech Street Theatre Company.”

The guided walking tour takes about 75 minutes to travel 2.6 kilometres. The walks feature nine stops throughout the downtown core. Two walks will be held on Oct. 18, 21, 22, 23, and 25 at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The 8 p.m. walks are dubbed “Ghost Walks After Dark” and participants must be 18 or older to take part. The stories shared during the walks deal with mature themes of death, violence and alcohol abuse. “The event may be too intense for young children, and is not recommended for children under the age of 13,” the town warned.

Tickets to the walks will be available at 9 a.m. on Sept. 27.
